Sad News;

It is with great sadness we announce that the Croeso Project will terminate on the 30/10/2009.

The project has run for 4 years and has been successful in reaching out to 1000’s of young people helping them to understand and celebrate diversity and equality.

Some of the projects biggest achievements include helping Gypsy and Travellers in Wales to be treated equally, our Your Choice animation competition and workshops and celebrating Black History Month with Newport Council.

Last but not least the jewel in the Croeso crown has been our Peer Led Education sessions for 11-16 year olds where the team discuss current equality issues with the young people and help them to go on to tackle these issues with their peers.

The Croeso team are proud to say we have been on the front line meeting the young people of Wales, finding out what is important to them and helping them to take their important issues forward.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who had helped and supported us along our journey. It has been a pleasure to work with you all.
Lots of Love,

Fiona, Neil and Amanda - the Croeso Team.

 What is the Croeso Project?

Children entering exhibitionThe Croeso Project is an initiative of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. Croeso aims to promote discussion and understanding to help us all enjoy the benefits of the rich diversity of Wales.

Diversity

Diversity is something to celebrate – after all being different is something we all have in common. The Wales we live in today is made up of people of all ages from all walks of life, cultures, languages, faiths and abilities. Wales has a proud tradition of welcoming individuals and groups into its communities and Croeso aims to promote discussion and empathy between different community groups. Breaking down stereotypes and promoting understanding will help us all to celebrate the benefits of an integrated, diverse Wales.

What we do

The majority of Croeso's work consists of delivering free of charge informal and interactive workshop sessions that focus on issues of equality, diversity, discrimination and human rights. We deliver a variety of sessions for all ages and groups, but all of these aim to provoke discussion of contemporary equalities issues.

However, the work of the project is very diverse. We are currently working closely with local authorities, schools, colleges and community based organisations to not only deliver these workshops but also other activities such as exhibitions, debates, film screenings, festivals and other educational work with younger children. The Croeso team is available to work in collaboration with any organisation to deliver effective and sustainable activities that benefit all who are involved.

How you can take part

Croeso is about participation and involvement. If you, or your organisation, wish to take work with us in some way please get in touch.

The team would particularly like to hear from people who can help lead discussions on diversity issues, bringing personal experiences that others may be ignorant of, or misunderstand.

We also want to hear from organisations doing things on the ground that bring people together in successful ways, spreading understanding and building links between individuals in local communities.
